The Antonio Canova Gypsotheca Museum in Possagno preserves the historical and artistic legacy of Antonio Canova, the greatest sculptor of the Neoclassical period.

The museum complex, one of the first in the Veneto, consists of the artist’s birthplace and the Gypsotheca, located in the original basilica and the extension designed by Carlo Scarpa. The Gypsotheca houses the original plaster models from which the marbles now found in the world’s leading museums were translated. The artist’s birthplace houses paintings, drawings, engravings, and personal effects.
