The Brion memorial
Nestled in the countryside of San Vito di Altivole, adjacent to the town cemetery, stands the Brion Memorial. The design of this monumental funerary complex was commissioned in 1969 from Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa by Onorina Tomasin, wife of Giuseppe Brion, founder and owner of Brionvega, following his sudden death.
The work was carried out from 1970 to 1978, the year of Carlo Scarpa’s untimely death, and was later completed by his collaborators based on his drawings.
This architecture, which has become a symbol of marital love, has been perceived since its construction as a vibrant and rich environment, but also a place of meditation and peace, silence and beauty open to all.
FAI MEMORIALE BRION – Italian Environmental Fund
In 2022, the Brion Memorial was donated to the FAI – Italian Environment Fund, by the heirs Ennio and Donatella Brion, becoming the 70th property of the FAI – Italian Environment Fund.
Curiosity!
The memorial, precisely because of its innovative and unique architectural structure, was chosen as the set for the film Dune 2, released in February 2024.
